A.G.M. 2025 from the Chair

I have now completed my 3rd year as Chair of Haverhill and District u3a and in
accordance with our constitution I am standing down. I have been very fortunate in
having a very committed and supportive committee and I could not have done my job
without them. I would like to give my sincere thanks to every one of them for this.
We have had some excellent speakers at the monthly Tuesday meetings thanks to
the hard work put in by Sue to book these and look after them on the day of the
meeting.
Work on updating and improving the website is continuing and News and Views
continues to be very popular.
I would also like to thank the News and Views team who have worked so hard to
produce a first class magazine and all the members who have contributed articles.
Although I am standing down as Chair I will continue on the committee (depending
on your vote) as treasurer and will give my full support to the new Chair.

Treasurers’ Report 2024

2024 was another year in which expenditure exceeded income by about £600. Our total reserves are still much higher than the level we are officially required to hold, so we remain in a very soundfinancial position.
Income was noticeably higher than last year. This is mainly due to having run three events: the 30th Party in June, the trip to Highclere Castle and the (subsidised) Christmas Show.

We also benefitted from two large Gift Aid receipts.
Expenditure was similarly higher, mainly due to the events mentioned previously. We also had to pay our three yearly IT charge.
The membership fee for the year 1st September 2025 to 31st August 2026 will remain at £10.00, however the postage for the Third Age Trust magazine has been raised by Central Office to£4.00 per year and we will implement this at renewal in September.
Like many of you, we will be impacted by the closure of LloydsBank, but we have new processes in place to accommodate the new situation.
I would like to thank David Cook for once again carrying out our audit, and for processing our accounts so quickly and efficiently.
